I have successfully created a nice little content carousel that let's me add youtube video as well as upload H.264 video stored locally on our server along with nice thumbnails - ( thanks Stuart Greenfield + SWFtools 6.x-3.0-beta3) for pointing me in the right direction and for the new thumbnails function.

See the front page of http://clouds.colorado.edu for the video carousel.

I am using flowplayer and it works wonderfully but I'm trying to figure out how to allow people who don't have flash installed to be able to view the content. For youtube videos (I am just using the URL to the youtube vidoe) it seems I just need to add a few lines to the youtube file in embedded media field module section to get fallback - http://learningtheworld.eu/2009/youtube-embed/

How would I do this for video I host my self: for mov / h.264 files and if I'm can't use flash then I assume it would just replace the flowplayer with a little link to the actual file??

Thanks
Richard

Local files and flowplayer don't seem to flow (pun intented) very well, how did you get them to stick?

I have a cck field for it and swftools/flowplayer 3 and not sure how thumbs would be done..

Everyone seems to be talking

Everyone seems to be talking about it. Of course it is going to have some hiccups at the beginning, at the end of the day it's a computer. I think it's a great to use the inbuilt flash files and flash video's for iphone and ipad Most of those complaining about it probably don't even own one. The Apple tablet will be a great tool for doing video search and playing. Most of the video sites listed on www.dozenvideo.com such as youtube and vimeo can be accessed by the iPad and I think it'll improve the ultimate viewing experience.

MediaFront.org

You can check out the project we just made. It integrates our OSM Player into drupal using the mediafront module. It's all GPL3 so its one download for the most part.

It can even be themed using your Drupal template system.

Should be a perfect fit.

Here is our Drupalcon session that goes over the project: http://mediafront.org/drupalconsf

Hope that helps!
